PC maker Acer is planning for aggressive growth this year and will do so under the guidance of a new top executive.

Former President J.T. Wang took over as chairman and CEO Jan. 1 following the retirement of Stan Shih, founder of the Acer Group of companies. Gianfranco Lanci, former president of Acer EMEA and the International Operations Business Group, replaced Wang as president.

The moves come as Acer, among the top 10 PC vendors in the world, strives this year to grow revenue by 35 percent more than last year, to $9 billion, and grow income by 67 percent, to $190 million.
