Acer America Corp.s new Veriton GT family of desktop computers aims to give small- and midsize-business users performance features—including Intels 865G chip set with Hyper-Threading technology for multithreaded applications—at a price starting at $813.

The Veriton 7600GT, 5600GT and 3600GT, announced last week, come with Intel processors ranging from the 2.6GHz Celeron to the 3.2GHz Pentium 4 and include up to 4GB of memory. They also support up to eight Universal Serial Bus 2.0 ports and up to five PCI slots.

Acers security software, which comes with the systems, prevents data from being downloaded to an external device or uploaded from outside sources without user verification, officials said.

The Veriton GT systems run the Windows XP operating system.
