Dell Inc. this week is rolling out a business desktop aimed at small and midsized businesses.

Officials with the Round Rock, Texas, company said they wanted to offer SMBs the features found in Dells OptiPlex PCs, which traditionally have been aimed at high-end users. Until now, smaller businesses had to choose between the high costs of OptiPlex desktops or the fewer features found in Dells consumer-oriented Dimension PCs.

The OptiPlex 160L, available now starting at $449, comes with a choice of Intel Corp. Pentium 4 chips, up to 2.66GHz, or Celeron processors, up to 2.2GHz.

The computer also offers integrated 10/1000M-bps Ethernet capabilities, up to 2GB of memory, six USB 2.0 ports and up to an 80GB hard disk. It also comes with three PCI expansion slots.

Dell officials said they were able to keep the cost of the computer down by limiting the number of configuration options.
