Fujitsu held its Media Day today to announce a razor-thin (though not quite RAZR-thin) notebook, the Q2110, along with several upgrades to their S and E Series notebooks. How thin is the Lifebook Q2110? According to Fujitsu, its about ¾ inch thick (about as trim as the Toshiba Portege R200—and weighs a scant 2.2 pounds. Unfortunately that doesnt leave room for an Ethernet, VGA, or even a modem port. Youll have to attach a dongle in order to get these connections.
The Q2110 is equipped with a 12.1-inch widescreen, and has a decently sized keyboard for typing. To ensure this notebook will last, the frame is crafted from magnesium alloy and the hinges are made out of titanium. The Q2110 doesnt have a built in optical drive—no surprise there, but like the Lenovo Thinkpad X60s, youll have the option of using a docking slice with an optical drive.
I dont expect the Q2110s performance to be great considering itll run on an ULV Intel Core Solo processor, but that should help extend the laptops battery life. Fujitsu claims that the included 3 cell yields only 1.5 hours of battery life. The company, however, is considering throwing in the 6 cell(7 hours) with the machine, which makes a lot more sense. I wouldnt even think about carrying this ultraportable with just the 3 cell battery. Fujitsu has not released pricing yet on the Q2110.
