Gateway this month will start selling desktop and notebook PCs at more than 600 U.S. Circuit City stores, the latest move by the computer maker to expand its retail outlet base.

The company has already signed other retailers, including Office Depot, Best Buy and CompUSA, to stock Gateway products.

Among the first moves Wayne Inouye made after becoming Gateway CEO, following the companys purchase of eMachines in March, was to shut down Gateways 188 retail stores and expand its reach through third parties.

Gateways strategy is to continue offering eMachines computers in the low-end volume space and Gateway machines to higher-end customers.
