Intel Corp. on Thursday further updated its third-quarter outlook, saying it expects revenues to come in between $7.6 billion and $7.8 billion.

This follows the Santa Clara, Calif., chip makers previous update Aug. 22, when it gave a range of $7.3 billion and $7.8 billion for the quarter, which ends Sept. 27. Earlier in the quarter, Intel officials said revenues would come in between $6.9 billion and $7.5 billion.

But while the numbers on Thursday were more specific, the message remained the same: The companys growth in its Intel Architecture business—which includes processors and chip sets for computers—continues to be strong, particularly in growing markets. However, demand for the companys communications products remains relatively weak, the company said in a statement released on Thursday.

Intel is scheduled to announce its third-quarter earnings Oct. 14.
