When connected to the keyboard base, the IdeaPad U1 uses Windows 7. In tablet form, it relies on an operating system based on Android 2.2.


Slates for the U.S.?

Although the IdeaPad U1 with LePad Slate is being sold only in China, Lenovo is planning similar slate products for a more global rollout later in 2011.

Lenovo also provided a glimpse of an Android-based smartphone for the Chinese market. Company representatives at CES were tight-lipped about any plans for such a device in the Unites States.
