IBMs Lotus Software division has announced an expansion of the platform support for its Instant Messaging and Web Conferencing software (formerly Sametime) and wireless counterpart.
Version 3.1 of IBM Lotus Instant Messaging and Web Conferencing supports Unix and Linux as client platforms, and runs on IBM Lotus Domino 6, which will allow customers to take advantage of enhanced performance and identity management options, Lotus officials in Cambridge, Mass. said.
Lotus also announced that the IBM Lotus Instant Messaging Everyplace 3, formerly Sametime Everyplace 3, now supports Java 2 Micro Edition, the operating system used by such wireless devices as the Research in Motion Ltd. Blackberry and many late-model wireless phones, as well as support for the Palm OS and PocketPC.
The software previously supported WAP and SMS-enabled devices.
All products are available now through IBM Passport Advantage Resellers Suggested retail pricing is $48 per user for Instant Messaging and Web Conferencing 3.1 and $56 per user for Instant Messaging Everyplace 3.
