TouchPad

The 9.7-inch TouchPad will make its store-shelf debut July 1. HP plans to offer the 16GB version of the tablet for $499.99, and the 32GB for $599.99.

Processor

2

The TouchPad relies on a 1.2GHz dual-core processor. It runs the webOS operating system, which HP acquired when it bought Palm in 2010.

All-In-One

3

HP has been pushing its tablet as an all-in-one device, equally capable of running apps and games as displaying e-books and periodicals.

HP Touchstone Charging Dock

4

In a bit of legacy technology from Palm, the TouchPad can be charged cable-free via the HP Touchstone Charging Dock.

3G?

5

HP plans on releasing what it calls a connected version of the TouchPad, which presumably means 3G capability, at an undefined date later this summer.

Other Features

6

The TouchPads screen offers 1024 x 768 resolution. It also comes with a 1.3-megapixel Webcam embedded in the front for video conferencing.

10

The TouchPad weighs 1.6 pounds and measures 13.7mm thick, making it slightly heavier than the iPad 2 at just over 1.3 pounds and Samsungs Galaxy Tab 10.1 at 1.24 pounds. (It weighs around the same as the Motorola Xoom.)
