After a bitter feud that came to a head in a fairly nasty segment of 60 Minutes, Intel and the One Laptop Per Child project have mended fences and agreed to start working together.
In an announcement on July 13, the two have stated that Intel will collaborate with the OLPC on their work involving the XO laptop, popularly known as the $100 laptop. Also, as part of the agreement Intel will join the board of the OLPC.
This is good news as no one benefited from the nasty and unnecessary fight between these two groups. When the mission is to provide low cost computing systems for children in the developing world, market forces and competitive activities should take a back seat.
Thankfully, Intel is now working with the OLPC instead of against them.
