Another day, another lawsuit. This one comes from the famous bluegrass mandolin player David Grisman, a friend and erstwhile bandmate of the late Jerry Garcia. Grisman filed a class action lawsuit last week in California against YouTube for copyright infringement.

Also party to the complaint is Grisman’s partner, Craig Miller. Both men do business under the label Dawg Music.

Grisman and Miller’s lawyers were not immediately available for comment.

One of Grisman’s songs, “Dawwgy Mountain Breakdown,” is the theme music for NPR’s Car Talk.

A separate class action lawsuit by the UK’s Premier League was filed last week as well. According to that complaint, the “defendants are pursuing a deliberate strategy of engaging in, permitting, encouraging, and facilitating massive copyright infringement on the YouTube website”.
