No one enjoys conflicts of schedule, but this latest one really annoys me.

Motorola Mobility, the major Android OEM maker being acquired by Google, is co-hosting a smartphone and tablet unveiling with Verizon Wireless in New York City Oct. 18, which is smack dab in the middle of Web 2.0 Summit in San Francisco:

Yes, the very same show where 90 percent of the high-tech world with stakes in the Web, social networking, and other new and future tools convene to hear some of the biggest brands and minds in the sector hold court.

WTF? It’s not as if this year’s show lacks for quality content or speakers. Michael Dell, Steve Ballmer, Marc Benioff, Dick Costolo, etc. There’s bound to be news there.

Yet, Motorola and Verizon are supposed to have big news themselves if you believe the rumors. The Verge is guessing a Xoom 2, Xoom 2 Media Edition, Droid HD (or Droid RAZR / Spyder).

The only clues we get from Motorola and Verizon beyond the invite is this video touting “faster, thinner, smarter, stronger” products:

So my guess is there will be four 4G LTE smartphones/tablets that are thinner, lighter, durable and have speedy 1.2GHz+ dual-core processors.

Of course, I won’t be able to attend because I’ll be at the Web 2.0 Summit. I’ll be there at the launch event in spirit, but as a Verizon customer who uses a Motorola Droid X as his personal phone, it’s a bummer I can’t be in both places at once.

But, like the Dude, I’m going to abide now that I’ve vented:
