Here’s more from a recent interview with Justin Osmer, the guy in charge of Microsoft’s new search engine.

Osmer’s under a lot of pressure. None other than Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates predicted a few weeks ago that Microsoft’s new search engine is better than No. 1 Google’s.

GOOGLE WATCH: How’s the search engine going to do against competitors?

OSMER: “Out of the gate, we’re not necessarily going to be anybody. We’ve got some new tools in image search that’ll beat the competition. To say in six months or a year we’d be number one overall is a bit bold or aggressive. But on some metrics, we could get there.”

GOOGLE WATCH: Does Microsoft outdo its search competitors in any way?

OSMER: “Relevancy. We are answering individual questions right out of the gate. It takes about 11 minutes for an average search user to find what they want. We deliver it in less time. I can’t tell you exactly how much, but I know we’re less.”
