Akamai Report Finds Key Changes to State of the Internet

Indonesia Attack Traffic Is Growing
While China still dominates the list as the top source of attack traffic, Indonesia more than doubled its attack traffic from the first quarter to the second quarter.
Port 80 Is Most Attacked Server Port
Port 80, which is used for Web/HTTP traffic, is now the most attacked server port, passing Port 445 for Microsoft Directory Services.
DDoS Attacks Are Declining
The number of distributed denial-of-service attacks against Akamai customers declined in the second quarter of 2014 and is now 15 percent less than what it was in the second quarter of 2013.
Enterprise Is the Top DDoS Attack Target
Akamai found that 30 percent of all observed DDoS attacks targeted its enterprise customers, while 29 percent targeted commerce.

The global average peak connection speed in the second quarter of 2014 grew to 25.4M bps, for a 34 percent year-over-year gain.

The great state of Delaware is the fastest in the U.S., with a second-quarter average peak connection speed of 62.5M bps.
IPv6 Usage Is Growing
The next-generation IPv6 address space increasingly is being used, as IPv4 address availability dwindles. In the U.S., Akamai observed a 10 percent quarter-over-quarter growth rate for the volume of IPv6 traffic.
