According to sources, the Open Source Development Labs has laid off a significant chunk of its engineering staff.

Stuart Cohen, chief executive of the OSDL, did not return a call left for him at his office Dec. 4. However, Jennifer Cloer, a spokeswoman for the organization, said she would have a statement on the status OSDL at 10:30 PT.

The OSDL mission is to accelerate the deployment of Linux for enterprise computing through enterprise-class testing and other technical support for the Linux development community; marshalling of Linux-industry resources to focus investment on areas of greatest need, thereby eliminating inhibitors to growth; and “practical guidance to … members—vendors and end users alike—on working effectively with the Linux development community,” the OSDLs Web site said.
