IBM corp. on Monday announced enhanced capabilities for its Tivoli security software that add further support for Linux and Unix variants.

The IBM Tivoli Access Manager for Operating Systems now has access-control support across Linux and numerous Unix-based operating systems, including AIX and HP-UX.

The Tivoli Risk Manager is also getting an upgrade, which includes new network, host and Web intrusion-detection sensors for Linux running on IBMs xSeries and zSeries machines. The sensors monitor Web-access logs, network-intrusion traffic and system log files and report the results to the Risk Manager. The softwares correlation engine then displays these results in the administrative console.

IBM is also expanding the Tivoli Identity Managers support for Red Hat Linux on its zSeries servers. The new capabilities will enable customers to apply policy-based management and provisioning to a wider array of operating systems and platforms, IBM officials said.
