Expanding its footprint in content integration, Venetica Inc. today announced that application infrastructure software maker BEA Systems Inc. will make Veneticas Content Provider for BEA WebLogic Portal generally available to WebLogic customers.
WebLogic Portal is BEAs portal framework software that provides companies with portal development, management, deployment and integration services.
The deal with Venetica, of Charlotte, N.C., will allow WebLogic users to utilize content from existing repositories by providing document sharing, collaboration and business process management capabilities.
The Content Provider for WebLogic includes a set of portlets designed to provide document sharing and collaboration as well as content integration functionality for accessing content stored on a Windows NTFS File Server, officials said.
The portlets themselves allow individual users to access and administer content, as well as departments to publish and share content.
A My Documents portlet provides document subscription capabilities that allow users to maintain links within a portal to content, for easy access.
Document Set portlets allow an organization to provide real-time access to a set of documents relevant to a particular business topic – which helps employees, for example, better utilize their company portal.
A Programmable Document List provides some advanced capabilities that allow WebLogic developers to build custom solutions, where user auctions in one portlet can drive the set of documents displayed in another.
The Document List portlet comes with Veneticas Extended Edition, which is designed so that users can access and work with content from various content repositories, file systems and databases.
Veneticas Content Provider for WebLogic Portal will be available for download from BEAs Solution Center.
