Logitech announced its most advanced portable mouse to date, the MX Anywhere 2 Wireless Mobile Mouse.

Featuring an advanced Darkfield Laser Sensor that tracks on any surface, including glass, and a compact, contoured shape with a durable rubber surface, the mouse connects to Windows or Mac computers with the included Pico Unifying Receiver or through Bluetooth Smart technology.

“The mouse is perfect for consumers who need a compact, mobile experience and advanced high-productivity features,” Ann Finnie, Logitech’s global PR manager, told eWEEK. “Frequent travelers, commuters, people who work from the office and from home will love this mouse because it is compact enough to take with you anywhere. It tracks on any type of surface with high precision and speed, even jeans or hotel sofas, and allows easy switching between multiple devices with the touch of a button.”

The scroll wheel on the MX Anywhere 2 mouse is equipped with hyper-fast scrolling, so users can scroll quickly through long documents or Web pages and then shift to click-to-click mode for more precise navigation.

“Logitech aims to address today’s needs for a mobile product that can be used to make things happen anywhere,” Finnie explained. It offers dual connectivity, Easy-Switch between three devices, a rechargeable battery with ultra-fast charging–one minute gives you one hour of charging–and more advanced customization options that give our users more flexibility than they are accustomed to having with a normal mouse.”

Logitech Options Software offers users brand new capabilities, which means now Mac users can enable gestures, allowing them quickly and easily navigate between different applications and screens by holding down a button.

The rechargeable battery lasts up to two months replacing the need for spare batteries, and the mouse is expected to be available in June in the U.S. for a suggested price of $79.99.
