Overland Storage, the San Diego-based company that has reinvented itself over the last four years to remain relevant in the midrange and small- and midsize-business storage markets, on July 11 launched two additions to its popular SnapSAN high-performance storage line.
The SnapSAN 3000 and SnapSAN 5000, scalable to a whopping 288 terabytes of capacity, are fully redundant systems with enterprise-level high-availability attributes, Overland said.
Key new features include:
- Multidimensional tiers that maintain optimal performance and provisioning without IT intervention.
- Enterprise-class data protection without the high incremental costs usually associated with such capabilities; both products come standard with real-time replication, volume cloning, snapshots and thin provisioning.
- Certified for Citrix, Microsoft Hyper-V and VMware, the SnapSAN 3000 and SnapSAN 5000 also have built-in VMware API support, as well as a vCenter plug-in for seamlessly integrated administration.
- Ideally suited for I/O-intensive applications, virtualized and private cloud environments, as well as regulatory compliance, the new SnapSANs enable administrators to quickly provision storage to easily meet application-driven and compliance requirements.
The SnapSAN 5000 also features increased I/O performance and advanced automation, such as AutoCache (with up to 800GB of additional solid-state device (SSD) cache memory), AutoTune, AutoTier and compliance WORM (write once, read many), the company said.
SnapSAN 3000 and SnapSAN 5000 are available immediately with a starting price of $13,999 through Overland Storage’s worldwide sales channel, Overland said.
Overland suffered serious financial challenges a few years ago but remade its brand with new administrative leadership and has quietly earned back some market share in recent months.
