Today’s topics include CA Technologies acquisition of Veracode, IBM and Salesforce partnering to improve sales analytics, Turkey’s investigation into Google’s Android bundling requirements and the WordPress update that fixes six security issues.

CA Technologies is making a big bet on security with the acquisition of privately-held code security testing vendor Veracode for $614 million in cash.

CA Technologies will expand its security portfolio with Veracode’s application and code security scanning capabilities that will help secure the entire DevOps workflow. The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of Veracode’s fiscal year 2018.

IBM and Salesforce are teaming up their respective artificial intelligence geniuses—Watson and Einstein—to solve analytics-related problems for salespeople all over the globe by helping them close deals.

Specifically, IBM said the deal, announced March 6, is designed to bring the two companies’ AI technologies together, resulting in joint applications that promise to deliver a new level of intelligent customer engagement across sales, service, marketing and commerce.

The Turkish Competition Authority on Monday said it will examine whether Google’s application bundling requirements for Android handset makers are consistent with the country’s fair competition rules.

The decision follows a reassessment of a complaint over the issue that had been filed in 2015. At that time, the Competition Authority examined Google’s activities in Turkey and determined that an investigation was not necessary.

But an appeal of that determination and a subsequent ruling on that appeal by an administrative court in Ankara, Turkey, prompted the decision to launch an investigation now, the Competition Authority said in a statement.

The open-source WordPress blogging and content management system released a new incremental version on March 6, providing users with six new security patches and 39 bug fixes.

The single biggest area of patched vulnerabilities is with Cross Site Scripting flaws, accounting for three of the six patched issues in WordPress 4.7.3. The new WordPress 4.7.3 update is the third security update for WordPress so far in 2017, following the 4.7.2 update on Jan. 26 and the 4.7.1 update on Jan. 12.
