Social database maker Blist March 24 opened up for public beta and added a few social networking-type features to make the application more compelling.
The Seattle startup, which attracted officials from Google and Microsoft at Demo 2008, lets users create databases called Blists that employ spreadsheet front-ends. Users create the Blists to store information for private use and for groups to collaborate on.
For example, a marketing manager who participated in Blist’s private beta program was able to archive event data, including budget figures, timelines, vendor contacts, speaker biographies, checklists, venue location photos and links to documents within Blist.
