When the 15-inch MacBook Pro was first introduced, we took a huge roller coaster ride in terms of actual ship dates. Well, hopefully this wont be a problem with the companys latest 17-inch MacBook Pro laptop which should be available within 7 to 10 days—at least according to Apple. The good news, though, is that now buyers have the option to choose between two seductive Intel Core Duo Apples.

There are very subtle differences between the current 15-inch and the new 17-inch model besides screen size. The 17-inch MacBook Pro will have a higher-resolution display, sporting a 1680-by-1050 resolution compared with 1440-by-900 pixel screen on the 15-inch. It also has three USB ports instead of two. The 17-inch MacBook Pro doesnt abandon the Firewire 800 port, so you have that connectivity option plus a Firewire 400 port on the same machine.

You also get double the speed on the included optical drive. The laptops dual-layer DVD burner is rated at 8X, whereas the 15-inch has a slower 4X drive. Youll find the same slick features that the 15-inch MacBook Pro made famous, including the MagSafe adapter, a built-in iSight Camera, an ExpressCard slot, plus Front Rows 10-foot multimedia interface, with the remote.
