The Station received a tip this morning from a reader that Sunnyvale, Calif.-based storage startup Agami Systems has decided to suspend its operations.
Five-year-old Agami provides storage for virtualized environments, consolidation and simplification of Windows-based environments.
We talked with Agami’s North Central sales manager, Mike Sanders, today, and he confirmed that the rumor was indeed true.
“I was as surprised as anybody,” Sanders said. “I just spoke with a colleague who was at the board meeting recently, and everything apparently was good. It really is still a startup, after all. I’m not sure what’s going on.”
Agami makes two lines of server arrays, one for midrange customers–the AIS3000 line–and the enterprise-level AIS6000 products. The arrays support file (network-attached storage) and block-level (IP-storage area network) data on a single platform.
Nobody answered the phones at the company headquarters today in Sunnyvale, although the support staff apparently still believes the company is in operation. Agami has a support and R&D facility in Andhra Pradesh, India.
