Direct-attached storage specialist Buffalo Technology Aug. 23 announced that it has refreshed its DriveStation Duo and Quad [formerly Quattro] product lines.

The Austin, Tex.-based storage maker’s new multi-drive external hard drives, fitted with NovaBACKUP software, are designed to be used in small to medium-size enterprise systems, such as those for creative professionals and consumers who need redundant and high-performance external storage.

The DriveStation Quad is a 4-drive, RAID-enabled storage package for SMBs. DriveStation Quad supports RAID 0, 5, 10 and normal modes but ships configured in RAID 5 for a prime balance between data redundancy and available storage capacity. It is available in capacities up to 8 TB. Quad is available beginning this week at $625 (4TB) and $1135 (8TB).

The DriveStation Duo dual-drive storage solution features USB 2.0 support for universal compatibility and enhanced performance speeds up to 225 MB/s with eSATA 3.0. It will be available in September at about $275 (2 TB) and $455 (4 TB).

The company also unveiled its new DriveStation Axis, a single-drive storage system that can be attached to any device via a USB port. Axis is available in September for $105 (1TB), $125 for the (1.5 TB) and $170 (4 TB).
