You may not have heard of the company with a name that sounds like a fighter aircraft, F5 Networks, but Fortune magazine has.

The Seattle-based application delivery networking provider Aug. 23 was named one of the world’s fastest-growing companies, according to the respected business publication.

F5 is ranked No. 64 among what Fortune calls “the world’s supercharged performers” on its 2010 list of 100 fastest-growing companies. F5 was the only company in its market space to make the list of 100 and also ranks No. 17 among the top technology companies.

Determining Fortune’s list of 100 fastest-growing companies was based on the following criteria: listing on a major U.S. stock exchange; filing quarterly reports with the SEC; a minimum market capitalization of $250 million and a stock price of at least $5 on June 30, 2010; and trading continuously since June 30, 2007.

The company must also have revenue and net income of at least $50 million and $10 million, respectively, for the four quarters ended on or before April 30, 2010. Finally, the company must have posted an annualized growth in revenue and earnings per share of at least 15 percent annually over the three years ended on or before April 30, 2010.

The full list and related stories appear in the Sept. 6, 2010 issue of Fortune, which became available on newsstands on Aug. 23. The overall list is accessible online.
