Overland Storage, the San Diego-based company that has had to reinvent itself to remain competitive in the midrange and SMB storage markets, on May 1 announced the availability of its NEO 100s Linear Tape-Open autoloader for enterprise tape systems.
LTO is a computer storage magnetic tape format used mostly for large workloads.
Designed for small business applications and remote location environments, the NEO 100s offers up to 27TB of data storage capacity in a mere 1U rack-mount form factor that includes a single LTO4 or LTO5 tape drive. That’s a lot of capacity in a small data center unit.
The NEO 100s offers standard NEO Series tape storage features, such as Web-based remote management and diagnostics, integrated bar-code reader to facilitate fast media tracking, a user-removable data cartridge magazine and a 1U form factor ideal for limited data center space.
With storage capacities ranging from 7.2TB to 3PB and data transfer rates ranging from 288GB per hour to 24TB hour, the NEO Series family of automated backup and archive solutions offers plenty of options in capacity, performance, features and affordability. In addition to the NEO 100s, the NEO S-Series includes the NEO 200s, a compact 2U model that provides up to 72TB of capacity and the NEO 400s, an expandable library that expands up to 144TB of capacity in a 4U form factor to maximize capacity while minimizing costly rack space.
Pricing and availability: NEO 100s libraries are available immediately, starting at $3,699, from a worldwide network of value-added resellers and system integrators, Overland said.
Overland is well-known in the storage industry for producing the SnapServer line of storage arrays for the midmarket and small and midsize businesses (SMBs). The company suffered serious financial challenges a few years ago but remade its brand with new administrative leadership and has quietly earned back some market share in recent months.
