Here’s some news from the wild and wacky world of defrag, where Diskeeper and precious few others are slugging it out for marketshare:

Raxco Software will be releasing a brand new version of its award-winning, Windows 7 and 2008 R2 certified PerfectDisk disk defrag and optimization product family next month. Version 11 includes several enhancements and new features to help users keep their PCs, laptops and servers running at optimal performance, Raxco said.

In addition, the virtual set of components (PerfectDisk 11 vSphere, PerfectDisk 11 Hyper-V and PerfectDisk 11 VMware Workstation) will be launched shortly after the non-virtual products. These are to be utilized in virtualized environments, such as with VMware, Citrix XenServer and Microsoft Hyper-V layers.

PerfectDisk 11 includes improvements to SMARTPlacement, Raxco’s patented optimization secret sauce that optimizes drives and eliminates most fragmentation before it occurs. Look for all this to be officially announced in a few weeks.
