Flash memory card maker SanDisk announced that it has begun shipping the highest-yet-capacity removable memory card for mobile phones: the 32GB microSDHC NAND flash card.

The new card is available starting March 23 on SanDisk.com, with worldwide retail availability to follow in a few weeks. It comes with a 5-year limited warranty and has a suggested retail price of $200.

The high-capacity memory card allows much more lattitude for mobile network operators and handset manufacturers to equip their subscribers with enough storage for the latest smartphones, which are memory-hungry devices.

SanDisk microSDHC cards are also available in 2GB, 4GB, 8GB and 16GB capacities. The Milpitas, Calif.-based company is mass-producing the new cards based on its third-generation 32nm X3 (3-bit-per-cell) technology, which makes a 32GB capacity possible in the small form factor.
