Today’s topics include Facebook announcing new initiatives at its F8 conference, and Samsung adding more storage capacity to its Galaxy S9 and S9+ smartphones.

On May 1 Facebook CEO and co-founder Mark Zuckerberg and Chief Security Officer Alex Stamos delivered the keynote address at the company’s annual F8 conference in San Jose, Calif.

Stamos explained how Facebook is securing itself and its user data in the face of international criticism over the company’s user security practices.

During his part of the keynote, Zuckerberg introduced an impressive list of new projects Facebook will focus on during the next few years—many of which feature AI and machine learning. One new feature is Clear History, which will enable users to delete their browsing information while logged in to the main Facebook app.

Facebook is also working on an app for filtering bullying and hate speech-type comments, a Watch Party app that will allow users to watch video while chatting with friends and a dating app designed for long-term relationships.

When Samsung started selling its Galaxy S9 and S9+ flagship smartphones back in March, both models were available with only 64GB of built-in storage. However, Samsung is now offering increased on-board storage for the S9 and S9+ handsets exclusively through Samsung.com, with 128GB and 256GB of internal storage now available for both phones.

The smartphones with more storage are available now for preorder, with availability starting May 18.

Prices are $770 for a 128GB Galaxy S9, $820 for a 256GB Galaxy S9, $890 for a 128GB Galaxy S9+ and $940 for a 256GB Galaxy S9+. All four new models will be available in Lilac Purple, Coral Blue or Midnight Black colors.
