IBM and CSC today announced an expanded partnership to help enterprises accelerate their transition to the cloud by integrating the companies’ technologies that enable hybrid cloud environments.

The expanded partnership is part of IBM’s strategy to tap systems integrators to help expand the reach of the IBM Cloud platform. The initiative includes the modernization and development of key applications that support mobile, analytics and cognitive intelligence across hybrid cloud deployments.

Under terms of the expanded agreement, IBM Cloud will become a key component of CSC’s IT strategy to deliver innovative solutions that meet complex compliance requirements of global enterprise clients.

The integration of the IBM Cloud with the CSC Agility Platform will enable clients across multiple industries—including health care, insurance and finance—to quickly and securely leverage the benefits of the hybrid cloud and deploy some 10,000 innovation applications that deliver rapid proof of value.

“The addition of IBM’s cloud into the portfolio of clouds managed under CSC Agility Platform further validates our strategy of creating client value through the orchestration of multiple cloud platforms,” said Mike Lawrie, CSC’s chairman, president and CEO, in a statement. “Our expanded partnership with IBM will help us accelerate the delivery of next generation applications that give our joint clients greater flexibility, safety and control of their data as they design and adopt hybrid cloud strategies.”

Global organizations have embraced the cloud due to the increased flexibility, productivity and cost-efficiency that cloud services provide. Enterprise clients are now increasingly adopting cloud computing to speed development of cloud-based applications to fuel data-driven applications, IBM said.

“Cloud has become the key driver of helping companies digitally transform their business operations for greater value,” said Robert LeBlanc, senior vice president of IBM Cloud, in a statement. “Working with CSC will provide greater value to our joint clients, helping them leverage the IBM Cloud to speed application development, data analysis, and faster value from their products and services across hybrid clouds deployments.”

CSC has already begun to train its developers to enable them to rapidly prototype, develop and deploy next-generation applications that take advantage of the more than 120 APIs and cloud services IBM has available on its Bluemix platform-as-a-service offering.

IBM Cloud provides fast access to public, private and hybrid cloud services to help drive digital transformation. IBM Cloud is a growing collection of services including analytics, mobile, networking, storage, Internet of things and cognitive computing. With more than 40 global cloud data centers, IBM helps companies securely manage and gain insight into their data no matter where it resides.

The CSC Agility Platform enables clients to use hybrid clouds across multiple cloud providers, as well as their traditional IT environments. Today’s announcement will secure the ability for CSC clients to leverage IBM Cloud services in a hybrid, multicloud model.

CSC is the latest in a string of IBM partnerships that includes Wipro Pro, Accenture, Infosys, TCS, Tech Mahindra, Cap Gemini & Sogeti, HCL and Cognizant. IBM said the top nine out of 10 of global consultants and system integrators have embraced the IBM Cloud over the last year.

In October, IBM announced that Indian systems integrator Wipro agreed to use IBM’s Bluemix as the development platform for the agile creation and deployment of mobile, analytics and machine learning solutions for clients around the world.

As part of the collaboration between the two companies, Bangalore, India-based Wipro committed to train and engage 15,000 of its developers on the platform through a massive online open course across 58 countries. This team of developers will use Bluemix as a development platform to introduce new value-added services for the customers of Wipro through Wipro Analytics solutions.

“Wipro’s objective is to be a premium partner to its customers and an industry technology leader through our expertise in analytics transformation,” said Jeff Heenan-Jalil, senior vice president of Analytics at Wipro, in a statement. “This agreement with IBM provides a platform where Wipro can provide greater value to our clients.”
