Craig Mullins, Data Management Strategist for BMC Software, says that far-away outsourced DBAs cant easily solve problems, lend guidance or participate in team-development projects. Except for DBA tasks such as database performance management, DBAs work is generally best when done by resident database experts who speak the same language as the programming team and know the ins and outs of the resident countrys government regulations.
