IBM has acquired data discovery vendor Exeros in a bid to help customers draw more value from data.

Exeros’ technology is aimed at automating the discovery of relationships between disparate databases to simplify data quality and data integration efforts tied to data warehousing and master data management. The technology fits into IBM’s Information on Demand initiative. Over the next several months, IBM plans to further integrate Exeros into the Information Management Software Portfolio.

“All organizations today are faced with the daunting challenge of turning massive amounts of information into insights to guide their businesses, but many are held back by the complexity of corporate data sources,” said Ambuj Goyal, general manager of IBM Information Management, in a statement. “The combination of IBM and Exeros will enable companies to more intelligently manage their data across all formats and computing platforms, creating a smarter enterprise.”

IBM officials added that the move enables its recently announced Business Analytics & Optimization Consulting practice and network of Analytics Solution Centers to meet growing client demand for advanced analytics capabilities to create new, smarter business systems.

The financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
