The National Institutes of Health and the Food and Drug Administration announced an online database to track adverse events in gene transfer research trials.

Dubbed the Genetic Modification Clinical Research Information System (GeMCRIS), its intended to aid in the reporting and analysis of adverse events, to allow direct access to the public, and to improve the ability of the government to monitor gene transfer research.
