Oracle announced Oct. 9 that it has purchased Sunopsis, a Burlington, Mass.-based company that produces data integration software.

Oracle will integrate Sunopsis data integration products into its Fusion Middleware offerings, the Redwood Shores, Calif. company said in a statement. That integration will support both Oracle and non-Oracle data sources, according to the company.

Sunopsis offers software products for data integration through its Extract Load Transform, or ELT architecture. The company also produces a range of data sources and target systems.

“We plan to incorporate Sunopsis high-performance data integration technology into the Oracle Fusion Middleware product family and make the technology an integrated part of Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), Business Intelligence (BI), and Master Data Management (MDM) solutions from Oracle,” Thomas Kurian, senior vice president for Oracles Server Technologies, said in a statement.

Financial details of Oracles latest purchase were not disclosed.

Oracle on Aug. 23 acquired the intellectual property rights to Sigma Dynamics. That purchase was also expected to strengthen Oracles Fusion products since Sigmas application were built using the same approach as Fusion Middleware and Fusion Applications.

On Sept. 27, Oracle also offered an updated version of its embeddable database, the Berkeley DB. Oracle purchased the company that makes that database, Sleepycat, on Feb. 14.
