Analysts are divided over the question of whether Oracles newly lowered bid for PeopleSoft makes sense. Some say there isnt enough potential growth in the business-applications market to sustain Oracle, while others say its the only way for Oracle to get a bigger slice of the pie. Meanwhile, although the states that are against the merger are fighting on the side of the U.S. Justice Department, the public/government sector is actually one vertical market that shows growth potential for enterprise applications.
