With the goal of getting crashed databases up and running more quickly and more reliably, BMC Software Inc. announced Tuesday that it has integrated its database backup and recovery product, SQL-BackTrack, to Veritas Software Corp.s NetBackup backup tool.

BMC, of Houston, announced it will participate in the Veritas Enabled Program to drive collaboration efforts between the two companies, including product integration, qualification and ongoing technical support.

Officials said that the goal is to allow customers to integrate database backup achieved through SQL-BackTrack with the devices and media support provided by NetBackup.

A customer quoted in the release said that the joint support will go a long way to keeping critical systems available. “Our advanced network infrastructure reaches border-to-border and coast-to-coast with international connectivity to accommodate global traffic, making it mandatory that our systems remain available at all times,” said Eddie Morris, supervisor of database services at WilTel Communications, a provider of data, voice and media transport solutions. “As a current BMC and Veritas customer, the joint support is a huge benefit as it saves time by allowing us to work with one vendor to quickly get potential problems resolved and our systems up and running.”
