Two software companies targeting the small business market, Interact Commerce Corp. and Actinic Software Ltd., on Tuesday both announced tighter integrations between their products and Intuit Corp.s Quickbooks small business management software.

Interact Commerce announced the availability of Act! Link, which allows its Act! contact management software application to share sales contacts, invoice status and other information with Quickbooks Pro 2002 and Premier 2002.

In this way, users can have a complete view of the account from order to invoice without launching a separate application. Act! Link also decreases the time between closing a sale and generating an invoice, said Interact Commerce officials, in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Separately, Actinic, of East Brunswick, N.J., extended its relationship with Intuit to support bi-directional data sharing between Quickbooks 2002 and its Actinic Business product line. The enhanced integration will enable users to exchange sales, product and customer data between their Actinic e-commerce site and QuickBooks 2002 products to save time and costs and reduce input errors, Actinic officials said.

Previously, there was only a one-way link between the two products allowing users to input data from Actinic to Quickbooks, but not vice-versa. The improved integration will allow users to combine online and offline order and payment processing, Actinic officials said.
