For many developers, the promise of Java 2 Enterprise Edition is intriguing, but the learning curve is steep.

NeuVis Software Inc. last week unveiled a development environment designed to help developers get from here to there.

NeuArchitect 4.0—a key part of the NeuVis E-Business Development Platform—is rapid application development software that gives developers a model-driven tool for creating Web services and XML, Web and wireless applications.

The new software from the Shelton, Conn., company also supports key parts of the development process, including Rational Software Corp.s Rational Rose import and synchronization capabilities and IBMs WebSphere Studio Application Developer. It also supports BEA Systems Inc.s WebLogic Web services J2EE platform and Hewlett-Packard Co.s Application Server.

NeuArchitect 4.0 is available now, priced at $5,995 per developer seat.
