ORLANDO, Fla. — As part of his continuing effort to reshape the company, Sanjay Kumar, president and CEO of Computer Associates International Inc., on Sunday announced that he has reshuffled CAs marketing, support and product-management organizations.

Each of the companys six brand units is now aligned vertically, with the development, marketing, support, quality assurance and product management functions for each product placed in the hands of one executive.

The sales organization will not be affected by the reorganization, Kumar said during his opening keynote at the companys annual CA World show here.

CA executives only notified the companys employees of the changes on Saturday.

As part of the reorganization, Russ Arztz, company co-founder, took over responsibility for the eTrust security product line. Arztz previously was responsible for CAs BrightStor storage products.

Aside from his announcement of the organizational changes, Kumar spent much of his speech touting CAs increased focus on customers and the companys new strategy of forming so-called partnerships with key customers.

Kumar also hinted at some of the new products and initiatives CA, of Islandia, N.Y., has coming. Discussing the importance of wireless in the future of enterprise computing, Kumar said CA is working on technologies that will enable companies to remotely locate and disable lost or stolen wireless devices.
