With application integration a front-line IT initiative—particularly when it comes to business-to-business ventures—some vendors are creating software that secures and stabilizes hybrid applications.

Quovadx Inc., with customers in health care, entertainment and the public sector, is developing an integrated system-monitoring device called QDX Enterprise Monitor.

Expected on the market in the first quarter of next year, QDX Monitor will sit on top of an integration platform and check the amalgamated systems that are created through integration.

What may set QDX Monitor apart from traditional systems management applications is its ability to monitor applications based on a business case, in addition to drilling down on systems issues.

Another differentiator: Quovadx, of Englewood, Colo., is making the user interface very graphical. One idea is to broadcast information across the bottom of a users screen, ticker-tape-style.
