Nonstop Solutions Inc. is extending its demand chain automation software with the release of a J2EE version of its namesake Demand Network Suite and the addition of technology from its acquisition of Evant Solutions Corp.

As a result, Nonstop software will enable manufacturers, wholesale distributors and retailers to optimize the flow of finished goods.

The Java 2 Enterprise Edition of Nonstop Demand Network Suite, which began shipping last week, is aimed at medium-to-large enterprises with large volumes of SKUs. The platform brings a handful of new capabilities, including improved safety stock strategies, data filtering, role-based security and an adaptable user interface.

A new multiechelon inventory management capability addresses the needs of complex distribution networks to properly forecast demand and replenish stock based on inventory requirements of each level of the demand network, said Nonstop officials, in San Francisco. A new browser-based user interface is designed for casual and power users and includes an executive dashboard that displays key performance indicators.

Nancy Williams, replenishment manager at Party America Acquisition Corp., in Alameda, Calif., is using a beta version of Nonstops J2EE platform to develop a centralized system for ordering that Party Americas 35 stores can use.

“Currently, our stores do all the ordering, there is no distribution center—the merchandise goes direct. We do a little bit centrally, on a home-grown system. The goal is to centralize basic ordering so we can free up managers to do other things, like provide better customer service,” Williams said.

San Francisco-based Evant, which Nonstop acquired last week, makes planning software for merchandise transaction management, inventory control, vendor management and analytics. Its suite of applications supports requirements of the store, catalog and Web channels for a variety of business operations.

Evants products are designed to provide a comprehensive view of business across channels and customers by integrating planning, purchasing, pricing, promotions, inventory management and decision support.
