PeopleSoft Inc. and collaboration software vendor Agile Software Corp. announced on Thursday an alliance to provide product lifecycle management (PLM) software.
Under the terms of the agreement, PeopleSoft will develop integration points between its supply chain management and customer relationship management software to Agiles suite of product chain management applications.
The two companies will collaborate to add new product introduction, product change management and total product cost management functions.
The resulting PLM solution will help suppliers, partners and customers share information such as design adjustments, product changes and customer requirements for new products.
The agreement between PeopleSoft and Agile is a joint marketing and sales alliance. An integrated PLM solution is available now through both companies.
PeopleSoft, of Pleasanton, Calif., and Agile, of San Jose, Calif., will compete with Parametric Technology Corp., Matrix One Inc., Electronic Data Systems and SAP AG.
EDS runs a separate PLM Solutions division that offers five product modules. This month, EDS will host an event at its Plano, Texas, headquarters to talk about its PLM vision and product roadmap.
