WebGain Inc. has long been a Java advocate. The latest version of its TopLink development takes that support a few steps forward, said officials with the Santa Clara, Calif., company.
Key among the enhancements in TopLink 4.0 is support for EJB (Enterprise JavaBeans) 2.0. TopLink is designed to bridge the gap between objects and relational databases, making it easier for developers to build and deploy applications while taking advantage of what is already available in the enterprises databases.
TopLink is compatible with all major application servers, officials said, and Version 4.0 brings EJB 2.0 support to the two that currently support the specification: BEA Systems Inc.s WebLogic Server 6.1 and Hewlett-Packard Co.s Application Server 8.0. The product also allows non-EJB architectures to take advantage of EJB 2.0 through features such as EJBQL, the EJB query language. Version 4.0 is available now, with pricing starting at $1,995.
