SAP AG will announce Thursday internal changes to its U.S. organization, officials of the German software giant said, though its unclear what those changes will entail.

According to a Reuters story Wednesday, SAP will announce a shakeup of its U.S. arm, splitting the region into two entities and naming an acting chief executive officer to replace the existing CEO.

Officials at SAP America Inc., SAPs U.S. headquarters, in Newtown Square, Pa., would not confirm if that means the current CEO, Wolfgang Kemna, would be ousted.

Kemna is a member of the Extended Executive Board of SAP AG. Hasso Plattner is the CEO of SAP AG, based in Waldorf, Germany.

According to the Reuters story, SAP will name Kemna as vice president of global initiatives, a new division set up to focus on customer and supply chain manufacturing software products.

In addition, SAP will name Leo Apotheker as its new head of global sales and the acting CEO of SAPs North American operations, according to the story, which who quoted unnamed sources in its story.

SAP has seen some internal shifting over the past several months.

In January, SAP announced it would combine it two subsidiaries, SAP Markets and SAP Portals, into a single company.

Details surrounding the new company were sparse until mid-April, when SAP said it would not create a separate entity, but rather combine the two subsidiaries into a single business area, Collaborative Solutions, that would focus on collaboration and integration.
