SAP AG said this week that the next version of its SAP Web Application Server will be compatible with Version 1.3 of the Java 2 Enterprise Edition platform.

J2EE support is a key features in the Web application server, which is one of three components in the German software giants mySAP Technology platform that also includes a portals infrastructure and an exchange infrastructure.

Combined, the three parts of the mySAP Technology platform comprise an architecture that SAP officials say enables open integration of any application and Web services in any technology environment.

The SAP Web Application Server is geared toward business applications and combines ABAP, SAPs proprietary programming language, with the Java programming language. With the combined application server, companies can build new applications and deploy any J2EE application in a Web services environment, according SAP to officials.

Also at the JavaOne Developers in San Francisco this week, SAP, of Waldorf, Germany, also announce that its Web Application Server is expected to pass Sun Microsystems Inc.s Compatibility Test Suite for J2EE 1.3 in June, which will include Java Beans 2.0, Java Message Service 1.0.2 and J2EE Connector Architecture 1.0.

SAP unveiled its mySAP Technology roadmap last year at its TechEd conference. This weeks announcements further that road map.
