Concord Communications Inc. took aim at problems plaguing service providers trying to roll out and scale DSL and IPVPN services with a new service provider version of its eHealth performance monitoring and reporting software.

The eHealth SPV 4.8 release from the Marlboro, Mass., company lets ISPs (Internet service providers) determine which sections of their copper plants can support higher-speed digital subscriber line services, allowing them to create premium services over that infrastructure.

Support in the new release for Cisco Systems Inc.s implementation of MPLS (Multiprotocol Lable Switching) also allows service providers to create different classes of service, document their delivery and create service-level agreements that correspond to each class.

The MPLS support is implemented in a module integrating with Ciscos VPN Solutions Center MPLS service-provisioning software that automatically imports configuration and performance data gathered by Cisco products. Support for the MPLS implementations of Lucent Technologies Inc., Nortel Networks Corp. and others is planned for later this year.

The software, which is based on a distributed architecture that can scale to monitor networks with up to 1 million elements, also adds operations support system integration modules that can automate manual provisioning tasks. It is available now and starts at $89,995.
