Concentric Business Solutions announced April 23 that it has released its Perimeter E-mail Protection suite of e-mail server security applications that provides small- and medium-size businesses with e-mail security, filtering and delivery options.
Concentrics PEP is a suite of e-mail server security applications that features tools that allow SMBs to filter and authenticate incoming e-mail before reaching a users e-mail server.
“With e-mail-based attacks and spam on the rise, businesses should look at a cost-effective perimeter solution like PEP, rather than costly upgrades to their e-mail server infrastructure,” Barbara Branaman, president Concentric, based in San Jose, Calif., said in a company statement.
The e-mail protection suite from Concentric helps SMBs to decrease the amount of e-mails they receive as well as spam by preventing spam, viruses, directory harvesting, denial of service or dictionary attacks, fraud, phishing and other e-mail attacks.

PEP also includes real-time monitoring as well as an incoming e-mail-analysis tool that provides network administrators with daily, hourly and 30-day historical summaries of message statistics while also providing other critical information about a users account.
PEP Filtering, an application included in PEP, makes sure that clean, valid and accurately addressed e-mails are sent to company e-mail servers for final delivery while also filtering incoming messages for spam and viruses.
“PEP Filtering provides an end-to-end solution that is easy to use and extends the life of existing investments,” Branaman said.
The PEP suite also features Premium Junk Mail filtering, an add-on for users who want to use a personal filter based on specific characteristics of received e-mail. Premium Filtering, another application included in PEP, enables users to create customized databases, which is able to differentiate between what is spam and what is not spam based on a users individual e-mail history.
PEP is available now as pricing depends on which e-mail server security applications a user needs.
