There are times when transportation companies see demand that outweighs capacity. At the end of the month or the quarter or during the holiday season, many carriers scramble to find other transportation providers to take some of the load.
New technology from Logistics.com Inc., of Burlington, Mass., is designed to make that struggle easier. The OptiManage Capacity Finder lets transportation companies find and offer shipments to preferred transportation providers via the Web.
The software collects the responses and determines the best carrier for each shipment. The product then awards the shipment.
