Business commerce software and services provider Inovis Inc. announced today the acquisition of IPNet Solutions Inc., maker of supply chain connectivity software.

The acquisition puts Atlanta-based Inovis in line to provide a fuller range of software and services for supplier and partner e-commerce connection and interaction.

With the addition of IPNet, Inovis will expand its portfolio to include software, managed services, a value-added network, professional services and a means for Internet transactions.

IPNets technology helps companies migrate from legacy systems to the Internet and is AS1, AS2, ebXML and Uniform Council Code Inc (UCC) certified.

Like its predecessor, AS1, AS2 is a standard by which vendor applications communicate EDI or other data, such as XML, over the Internet using HTTP; ebXML is an interoperability standard.

With the addition of IPNet, Inovis plans to aggressively pursue the midmarket and industry hubs that are in the adoption phase of AS2, Jim Schaper, chairman and CEO of Inovis, said in a statement.

The combination of Inovis and IPNet, of Newport Beach, Calif., provides users with the flexibility to connect with trading partners using a handful of connectivity options, including File Transfer Protocol, AS1 and AS2, as well as with the capability to scale across multiple platforms and document types.

Inovis and IPNet are no strangers to one another. Under an existing reseller agreement the two have partnered on more than 150 data exchange deals.
