Informatica Corp. on Monday announced Version 4 of PowerAnalyzer, a release highlighted by usability enhancements designed to make the business intelligence platform more accessible to a wider range of users.

PowerAnalyzer 4 makes use of what Informatica calls a “persona-driven” design, so that features and functions are tailored to core groups of users needs without exposing those users to underlying technology, company officials in Redwood City, Calif., said.

Other new features include Microsoft Excel templates and pivot tables embedded within the PowerAnalyzer environment and an analytic workflow technology that guides users through analytic processes using a decision tree interface so they can understand the root causes of an analysis thats been made, officials said.

PowerAnalyzer 4 also adds business performance management (BPM) capabilities such as scorecarding, dashboards, Six Sigma metrics, metrics management, ad-hoc query, analysis and report-bursting. In combination with Informaticas PowerCenter RT data integration platform or Java Messaging Services, its lets users view moving indicators in real time on their dashboards for business monitoring so as to identify anomalies as they arise.

In addition to these features, PowerAnalyzer 4 supports improved caching capabilities in its back-end analytic engine and features a Web-centric SDK, on top of which third-party developers can build applications.

PowerAnalyzer 4 is expected to ship in early May. CPU-based pricing starts at $50,000; concurrent and naming user pricing models are also available depending on the implementation.
